This article covers the advantages we perceive of using NOD32 over other (perhaps better known) products.
With experience of many different vendor's anti-virus products and the support problems caused by them, RunPCRun had to find a single AV product to work with,support and recommend. The chosen AV product needed to be a leader in terms of multi-platform support, virus detection, speed, cost and vendor support.
Each of the major anti-virus vendors were investigated and it soon became clear to us that ESET's NOD32 was the clear winner. So we started to deploy NOD32 gradually to our customers.
Unlike other anti-virus products, not only was it fast and had excellent scanning rates , but as time wore on it we found is also caused us absolutely no problems after installation on the support side of our business (please note:still correct as of 08/08/2007) and compared to other anti-virus programs where we actually gained new support customers to fix and/or remove their existing (and usually well-known) anti-virus products that had gone wrong!
So from 2003 RunPCRun became an official partner reseller for NOD32 and we are proud to recommend it as THE solution for all PC/Server/Mail server Antivirus needs. RunPCRun are a big supporter of Free Open-Source Software and we highly recommend a lot of it. We also know of the very good ClamWin anti-virus , and if you are after a FREE anti-virus then we do recommend it. However NOD32 is cheap and has many advantages over ClamWin that makes it indispensable in the business scenario, especially on Windows PC's and Servers.

NOD32's effectiveness is due to its unique core technology that addresses both known and unknown viruses. Although there are at least 50,000+ viruses known to exist today, the most dangerous are new and ItW (In the Wild) viruses, i.e. the viruses that are active worldwide. In even few short hours it takes for labs to analyze, create and deploy patches, Internet virus propagation time enables ItW and new viruses to achieve worldwide infiltration and widespread damage.
Also from our own experience, when a client has let a subscription slide, we have found on these occasions that NOD32 still works very effectively cleaning "unknown" viruses (unknown to NOD32 with an old virus database) which shows us how well NOD32 can deal with "0-day threats" where a virus is received before a signature can be delivered. (Please note this is not a good reason to not renew your license!)
